Playing Poker As Social Interaction Media

Nowadays people become less and less social, and they become what they are not. With all the technology around, I see there are less human and real interaction between people. People seems to have more interest to socialize through Facebook, Twitter, etc, instead of having coffee and chat about how is each other day. Well, maybe one could have a hobby which not need computer or internet to bring people to get real interaction.

Playing poker at home is just perfect, with folding poker table, everyone could throw a party poker without worrying about the space. It can fold and stored easily. The point is, when we have a media or tools that will keep us interact without any computer and internet needed, that could be great. It is good to follow the updated technology, but when that just make us not human, there is something very wrong is happening.

Maybe you now often hear about the game like: FarmVille, mafia wars, etc, where people could go online and play the game with everyone who maybe they do not even know them. It is great to cut the distance and time, but again, it will become threatening when we have more online friends that offline friends. Sounds ridiculous, but that is really the truth. You could start by asking your son/daughter how many friends did he/she have on Facebook or twitter, and then ask them about their friends at the school. How many that he/she closed to? Well, it might be surprising to hear those answers from your own kids.

But then again, this does not mean that I am not agreeing with those technology development. This technology things should help us, not make us more not human. So use the technology wisely. Put some balance between offline and online life. Use media like folding poker table [http://foldingpokertablestore.net], cards, chess, etc. to interact with your friends and relatives.
